We are excited to welcome Dr. Jinjia Xu to the Chan Lab!

Brief bio: Jinjia Xu studied organic chemistry and functional polymer materials at University of Tsukuba, Japan, where she received her Ph.D. under the direction of Prof. Masayuki Takeuchi. During her joint Ph.D. program with the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), she was awarded the Junior Researcher Fellowship and JSPS Fellowship for Young Scientists, Japan. Her interdisciplinary research interests lie at the interface of organic chemistry, polymer materials, and device fabrication/evaluation with an emphasis on exploitation of new π-conjugated materials and their assemblies through synthetic strategies and supramolecular approaches for the creation of various functional organic materials towards optoelectronic, bioelectronics and biomedical applications. In October 2018, she decided to move to US and joined Purdue University as a postdoc, where she worked with Prof. Hugh Lee on the development of new antibiofouling zwitterionic polymer materials towards implantable bioelectronics. In June 2020, Jinjia joined Prof. Jeff Chan's research group to continue her passion in the field of molecular probes and imaging, where she will establish the new bioinspired molecular tools for activity-based sensing and near-infrared photoacoustic bioimaging. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, live shows, swimming and skiing.
